Ways to use crystals in your daily routine

Today more and more people are open to the use of crystals. And for good reason! These gems are infused with thousands - sometimes millions - of years of Earth's history, giving them a healing energy that can stimulate any conscious practice. But as with any diet or exercise regimen, a crystal exercise that works for one person won't necessarily work for another.

Fortunately, there are tons of ways to work with these amazing stones every day! Here are eight ways to get you started.

1. Program your crystal with an intention

The first thing to do when working with a crystal is to program it with an intention. The crystal wants to work for you, but you have to tell it what to do. It will then serve as a daily reminder of that goal.

To program it, hold the crystal in your hands, close your eyes, and take three deep breaths. Then say aloud or in your head what your intention is.

2. Hold a crystal during your meditation

One of the simplest ways to connect with crystals is through meditation. Start by holding your crystal in one or both hands while closing your eyes and focusing on your breath. You may feel that your body sinks deeper into the earth, creating a grounding effect. You may feel a lightness around you or you may not feel something right away. Sometimes certain crystals don't resonate, and sometimes they give you goosebumps. Each crystal will feel different, so be patient and keep experimenting.

3. Carry a crystal with you throughout the day

The more you touch your gems, the more you can tap into their energy, so wearing them is a smart plan. Nowadays crystals are in literally everything: jewelry, beauty products, clothing - you name it. But when that doesn't work, it is always enough to put one in your bra or pocket.

4. Place crystals on your body

Applying crystals to your body has a completely different effect than simply holding them. If you are in the process of healing a specific chakra, choose a stone that corresponds to that chakra and place it on your body in the place corresponding to that chakra. This serves to stir the energy around that chakra and brings out the emotions you need to heal.

To start, use Smoky Quartz to nurture your root chakra, or place an Aventurine over your heart to open your heart chakra to give and receive love. You can place a clear Quartz crystal above your head to open your crown chakra for enlightenment and guidance. If you hold a stone above your third eye chakra during this process, you can experience a deeper state of meditation.

5. Use crystals during yoga

6. Bring positive energy into your interior

Crystals have long been a crucial part of yoga and meditation studios, but recently they have also appeared in several home decorating magazines. And for good reason! Larger crystals, while pricey, make for breathtaking statement pieces that work to keep a space's energy positive. If you're not willing to buy a larger stone, clusters of tiny crystals can also bring a sense of calm to any room in your home.

7. Include crystals in your grooming routine

Crystals can provide many care routines with their properties. For a DIY spa treatment, take (clean!) crystals in your bath or soak them in the water you wash your face with.
